Australian-Palestinian supporter who invaded World Cup pitch brought to Ahmedabad Crime Branch

Ahmedabad (Gujarat), Nov 20 (ANI): An Australian-Palestinian supporter, who invaded the field of play during the CWC 2023 final, was brought to the Ahmedabad Crime Branch on Nov 20. A massive security breach took place at Narendra Modi Stadium amid live-action cricket final between India and Australia on Nov 19. Later, he was quickly removed by the ground security officials and arrested by Gujarat police. The supporter invaded the field and hugged Virat Kohli during the 14th over of India's innings. The man was in a t-shirt that said ‘stop bombing Palestine’ on one side and ‘free Palestine’ on the other. On being probed by the media, the invader identified himself as Jonathan Wayne from Australia. The bloodiest war between Israel and Hamas enters day 45 and continues to spiral with no ceasefire. At least 13,000 Palestinians have been killed in Israeli bombardments since the Oct 07 surprise assault by Hamas, including at least 5,500 children.
